To maintain the collections, furnishings, and study environment of the Drew University Libraries, the following policy on food and drink was affirmed by the Library Council on June 13, 2018 with an effective date of July 1, 2018. 

In the main area of Level C:

  • Light snacks and covered (non-alcoholic) drinks may be consumed
  • Messy and strong-smelling foods are prohibited
  • Patrons are asked to remove their trash and dispose of it in the appropriate receptacles
  • Patrons are asked to clean up after themselves
    • Towels and wipes are available from the Circulation department for your use
  •  Carpet spills should be reported to Circulation

The Kean Room and all other areas and other floors of the University Library are FOOD-FREE:   

  • No food of any kind may be consumed in these areas of the University Library (*)
  • Covered (non-alcoholic) drinks may be consumed in these areas
  • Patrons are asked to remove their trash and dispose of it in the appropriate receptacles
    • Towels and wipes are available from the Circulation department for your use
  • Carpet spills should be reported to Circulation

Food AND Drink are prohibited in the Wilson Reading Room located in the United Methodist Archives and History Center

(*) Exceptions may be granted for scheduled events that have received Library Administrative approval prior to the event.  Staff may consume food in their offices and the staff lounge.  Non-messy food and non-alcoholic drinks in covered containers may be consumed in the Doctoral Student Lounge.
