Go to Start → My Computer → Other → Mobile Device → DataForArcPad. You will see two files in the folder that have the name of names of layers from your Map Project. They follow these formats:
ProjectName_gdb.asf
ProjectName_gdb.axf.log
ShapefileNames.apm
ShapefileName.apm.bmp
BaseImageName.jp2
BaseImageName.jp2.aux.xml
BaseImageName.jp2.ovr
BaseImageName.jp2.xml
Copy all One has a .apm file extension, the other has a .apm.bmp file extension. Copy both of these to the ActiveSync folder you used for your Output Options during the Check Out process. The folder should look something like this: "I:\YourDrewUsername\My Documents\Geo4939435713 My Documents\MapProjectName." You will be asked if you want to replace the existing files in the folder with the files you are copying from the GPS unit. Click "Yes to all."Only copy those files that are more recent - sometimes background image files are not updated, so there is no need to copy/replace these, but any files with data in them need to be copied.
In your ArcMap project, open and editing session using the Editor tool bar.
