Schleiermacher's concept of a"positive science," i.e.,"an assemblage of sciences, or fragments of sciences, brought together to equip practitioners in one of the professions \[_sc_. theology, law, or medicine\]," is evidently an anticipation of my concept of a "field\- \[or study-\] encompassing field of study."
