Unless I'm mistaken, when Bultmann talks about a merely general faith in God, he's talking about the same thing that he otherwise talks about as holding certain things to be true, or accepting a world view.

Thus he speaks at one point of "a general faith in God the Father that, at bottom, is something like an optimistic, altruistic world view" (GV 1: 253).
