Faculty members may renew an item unlimited times, provided the item has not been recalled. There are three renewal options and but we recommend using the "My Library Account" feature in the library's online catalog.  online; You may also submit a renewal form ; or bring the items to the Circulation Desk. No phone renewals.desk but we do not renew items by phone. 

 

Fines

Overdue and fine notices are sent to Drew University email accounts. Follow-up courtesy calls are also often made to Drew campus phone numbers. The library does not charge faculty or staff . Neither faculty of staff members are assessed daily overdue fees. However  But, items overdue for 40 35 days are automatically assumed to be lost and a replacement charge of $100.00 per assumed lost item replacement charge is placed against on the borrower’s library account. Replacement fee is $75 per book. Assumed lost items   Once an overdue item has become assumed lost and the $100.00 replacement fee is charged, the item must be brought to the Circulation Desk for discharging. Once an assumed lost item is returned, the $75 $100.00 fee per item is reduced to a lesser amount . If unless the library has purchased a replacement copy, the $75 fee is not reduced. 

Suspension of Borrowing and Recall Privileges

When an item becomes assumed lost, all library borrowing and recall privileges are automatically suspended until either the book has been returned and/or the all replacement fee fees are paid.

Recalled Items

Recalls are requests by current Drew faculty, staff, students, or Reserves for material charged to another borrower. Items are subject to recall 30 20 days after the original charge out date. However, items needed for Reserve Reserves may be recalled at any time. Recalls are requests by current Drew faculty, staff, students or Reserves for material charged to another borrower. You may place a hold/recall on a checked-out item while in the library catalog.

  • When viewing a If the brief title record in the catalog, [Place Hold] or [Cannot place hold] will display.
  • Click on [Place hold].
  • Verify that this is the item you want and click on Place a Hold in the Items Resources Box.
  • shows that an item is checked out or on order, you may click on Place a hold/recall request.
  • Enter Prompt will require your Drew user name & and password. Click [OKto place a hold for] to complete the process.

Hold requests may also be submitted by completing a recall card at the Circulation Desk.

You will be notified via email to your Drew email when the item has been returned and is on hold for you.

To recall an item to be put on reserve, complete a reserve request form, and indicate that the item is charged out.

Fines for failure to return a recalled item

Maximum overdue recall fine for failure to return a recall for an individual placed by a patron is $20.00. Maximum overdue recall fine for failure to return a Reserves recall is $45.00. If a Reserves recall is not returned in two weeks promptly and the library purchases a new copy for Reserves, an additional replacement fee of $75$100.00 will be charged.
