Requests for Visiting Scholar privileges should be directed to the Associate Dean of Libraries (the form to be completed .  The application form is available at the Circulation desk); the completed form and explanatory letter should be directed to the Library's Associate Dean.

Borrowing privileges

The privilege period for the Visiting Scholar is set by the Associate Dean of Libraries. Scholars may borrower 60 items for a loan period of 30 days.

Scholars may renew an item four times, provided the item is has not being recalled. There are 2 renewal options: submit a renewal form been recalled.  Contact the Circulation Supervisor, Renewals, or bring the items to the Circulation Desk . No phone renewals. All materials are subject to recall 20 days after the original charge out date. Items needed for Reserve may be recalled at any time. prior to the item's due date. We do not offer phone renewals.

Fines

Scholars are subject to fines and replacement charges

Fines

, like other library patrons.  The library does not charge scholars Scholars daily overdue fees . However, but items overdue for 35 days are automatically assumed to be lost and a per item replacement charge is placed against on the borrower's account. Replacement fee is $75 $100.00 per book.  Assumed lost items must be brought to the Circulation Desk for discharging. Once ; once returned, the $75 $100.00 fee per item is reduced to a lesser amount. If the library has purchased a replacement copy, the $75 $100.00 fee is not reduced.

Suspension of Borrowing Privileges

When an item becomes assumed lost all , library borrowing and recall privileges are automatically suspended until either the book has all assumed lost books have been returned and/or the all replacement fee fees are paid.

Recalled Items

Recalls are requests by current Drew faculty, staff, students, or Reserves for material charged to another borrower.  Items are subject to recall 20 days after the original charge out date. However, items needed for Reserve may be recalled at any time. Recall privileges are suspended if a recalled item is not returned promptly; recall and borrowing privileges are also suspended in this case. 

Fines for failure to return a recalled item

Maximum overdue recall fine for failure to return a recall for another patron is $20.00. Maximum overdue recall fine for failure to return a Reserves recall is $45.00. If a Reserves recall is not returned in two weeks promptly and the library purchases a new copy for Reserves, an additional replacement fee of $75$100.00 will be charged.
