"Theology," in the generic-specific sense of "Christian theology," may be defined as the process or the product of more or less critically appropriating Christian faith and witness. As such, the more or less critical reflection it involves includes: (1) more or less critical interpretation of the meaning of Christian faith and witness, the first being accessible to interpretation only through the second; and (2) more or less critical validation of some or all of the claims to validity that Christian faith and witness make or imply.
