Another important difference between Phillips's view and my own is that he never seems to make up his mind about just what he wishes to say -- whether
1. that religious transcendence is not metaphysical transcendence;
2. that religious transcendence does not equate with metaphysical transcendence; or
3. that religious transcendence has nothing whatever to do with metaphysical transcendence.
