This consulting methodology document draws on several pieces of research into requirements gathering and analysis as well as the considerable experience of the staff members of Drew University. The fundamental goal and output from this process should be a set of mutually agreed upon backlog items to be added to the project backlog. Any additional documents generated by this process (process diagrams, user stories, use case scenarios, interview transcripts) should be used solely to supplement and support the backlog items.

The current design of the consulting process can be broken down into the following steps

1. Initial Customer Contact
2. The Guided Interview
2a. Follow Up Requirements Gathering
3. Creating a Business Use Cases and User Stories
4. Working with Customer to Verify Use Cases
5. Breaking Business Use Cases and User Stories into Backlog Items
