University Technology supports a fully integrated wireless network in most campus locations. All Drew-supplied laptops have full 802.11a/b/g/n connectivity.

This table will describe wireless coverage in various on-campus buildings. In most cases, coverage extends to public spaces on building exteriors. Many buildings have full coverage, but not every part of every building is covered.

University Technology has begun work on a project to improve wireless coverage in various dorms on campus. This work will continue over the summer of 2015.

Notes about Specific Buildings

Alumni House: Partial coverage

Dorothy Young Music Wing: Concert hall is well covered but wireless coverage in the lobby is spotty

SW Bowne: Limited coverage

Baldwin Gym and Forum: The Forum floor is well covered. Coverage in the Baldwin Gym and Pool area is limited.

General Notes

It is difficult, if not impossible, to guarantee complete coverage in every part of every campus building in every situation. Factors such as environment, population, furnishings, and use of other equipment may contribute to interference that will change wireless coverage dynamically. UT attempts to provide "good" or better coverage in 90% or more of all covered campus buildings.

UT also cannot guarantee coverage for all types of wireless devices. Testing is done on Drew standard laptops, and in most cases handhelds, tablets, game consoles, and other devices should work adequately, but differences in hardware may mean coverage is not attainable for certain devices.

There are 2 wireless network names (SSIDs) in most locations: "drew" and "drew1x". The "drew" connection requires no wireless authentication. The "drew1x" connection requires authentication (WPA2-EAP-MSCHAPv2). Not all devices can support wireless authentication.
