These are the steps that should be followed if someone has deleted a file from a network drive and would like to restore it. We used to refer to this process as "salvaging a file".

  1. Right click the folder the file was deleted from (IF THE FILE WAS DELETED FROM A SUB FOLDER WITHIN A NETWORK DRIVE, YOU MUST RIGHT CLICK THE SUB FOLDER THAT THE FILE WAS IN)
  2. Select Restore previous versions
  3. Select the folder marked with a date and time before the file was deleted
  4. Click Open
  5. Drag the deleted file back to the original directory, or copy and paste the file into the original directory, selecting "Copy and Replace" if prompted.

These steps will only work if the file was deleted recently.
