When Hartshorne says that "[p]hilosophy and theology are the mediators between science and religious beliefs" (ZF: 51), he's evidently touching on the same point he makes when he says that "[i]t is the duty of theologians and philosophers to try to save us from religious or antireligious fanaticism and the resulting religious wars and near wars" (PCH: 571). 1 February 1998
