The Notebooks of Schubert Ogden
"Interpretation" can be understood in at least three different senses:
(1) in the proper sense as only the first of the two main functions of reflection, the second being validation;
(2) in the broad sense of "appropriation," and so as comprising both of the essential functions of reflection, validation as well as interpretation in the proper sense; and
(3) in the narrow sense of "interpretation of content (= the answer)," and so as only the second of the two steps required by interpretation in the proper sense, the first being "analysis of structure (= the question)."
