For Paul, "the primal sin of the world" is that it "did not understand itself in its creatureliness and did not give God the glory" (1 Cor 1:21; Rom 1:19 ff.).

"The primal sin of the Jews," on the other hand, is that they "want to establish their own righteousness by means of the law, in order to 'boast.'"
