Note: This is the instruction on adding an item on Folio (like a second copy of a book). This is done when the second copy is the exact replica of the preexisting copy and will have the same call number. 

Step 1: Search the title you are adding a copy to in order to make sure it is the same item you have in hand (same publication year, same title, same physical description). You will see the preexisting record and its barcode

Step 2: Click add item

Step 3: From this point forward, there is a series of information needed in order to save the item as a second copy. For example, the barcode. Add the barcode of the item you are adding. 

Step 4: Fill in the material type. Is it a book? A DVD? Remember, both items will have the same call number. 

Step 5: Include the Call number type. Is it LC or SUDOC? Also include the call number.

Step 6: If you need to add any notes regarding the item that you are adding, now is the time to do it. Click "item notes" and this is display that will open. Click "add note." Is this copy missing a series of pages. Add it in a note and pick the type of note and write in the note. Check "staff only" for privacy. 

Step 7: Choose what kind of loan it will be. Does it get to circulate or this a reference copy. Select the type now. You can also a note that appears when the item is checked-in or out. (For example, a note that warns Circulation students that they need to check for an accompanying DVD inside a book.)

Step 8: Choose the location of the item. What level does the item reside on? Use the Location look-up for some assistance. 

Step 9: Remember to click "save and close" to make sure your item is added.
