1448. Documents on Metaphysics

The documents put together here, for the most part from my Notebooks, reflect the emergence over time of my thinking on metaphysics. They thus constitute the prehistory, as it were, of the two documents, "On Transcendental Metaphysics" (n.d.; rev. 12 April 1997; 6 August 2002; 26 November 2004; 1 June 2008; 15 March 2010) and "Logical-Ontological Type-Differences in Outline: Ten Theses" (Summer 1985; rev. 26 July 2002; 3 June 2008; 15 March 2010).

The documents are numbered consecutively with red numbers in the upper right corner of the first page of each document. 

Documents 1 (1-8 pp.) and 2 (1-33 pp. + Addenda page), although not dated, certainly arose during the course of my extensive preparations for the Hartshorne Conference at the University of Chicago in the Fall Quarter of 1981-82.

Document 3 (4 pp.), also not dated, was probably written no later than 1984, while documents 4 (5 pp.) and 5 (8 pp.) are both dated and were written in 1985. Together they track the developments resulting in the second of the two documents referred to above (although its title is, of course, different). 

Documents 6-14 (only one of which is more than one page in length) indicate some of the questions and corrections that forced rethinking and rewriting during the period from sometime after the Summer of 1985 to 14 September 2005.
