For Office 2016 on Windows Computers
Hi everyone!
We received reports of some Office products crashing for seemingly no reason. Upon further investigation, it appears one of the recent Microsoft updates (an important update that resolved serious security vulnerabilities) had a bug that caused the issue. Fortunately, the solution is to install Microsoft's emergency update.
To Resolve The Issue
On Campus, Drew-owned Computer
This update be found in Software Center labeled as "Office 2016 Security Update KB5002623" on Drew-owned Windows computers.
- In the search bar on the bottom left of your screen, type Software Center. Launch this app.
In the Applications section of Software Center there will be an application called "Office 2016 Security Update KB5002623". Click on this.
Click Install.
Once installed, open the Office app you were having difficulty with and test to see if you experience the same crashing behavior.
If you do, restart the computer and test again.
Off Campus
If you are not currently on campus, please use the direct link to download the 32-bit patch for Office.
Follow the installation instructions.
