Already for the Greeks, the standard for measuring all specific "laws" (νόμοι) is the "unwritten law" (νόμοϛ άγραφοϛ ἄάγραφοϛ), the "common law" (κοινϛ κοινὸϛ νόμοϛ), or, as it can also be called--in called—in effect, confusing the distinction between "ϕύσιϛ" and what exists "φύσει," on the one hand, and "νόμοϛ" and what exists "νόμωνόμῳω," on the other--the —the "law of nature," or the "natural law" (νόμοϛ φύσωϛφύσεωϛ).
