SIRSI Connection IP: 192.107.39.201

curently currently boxing is in flux: must keep boxes under 40 lbs; shipments are no longer regular
...
We label boxes with lot number, u100 and SER STD or whatever (see Bridgeports(?) form)
Guiding principle: make sure materials are available for users. Avoid boxing something up only to have to remove it
SPring Spring binders: CAT asks that we no longer send these to the bindery. We are discussing whether to send theses in folders or sandwiched between cardboard tied together with red ribbon
When creating a new record:
Foramt: S serial, B for ?(rebind damaged?), TP: Thesis Personal
Cover: choose whatever for serials, or better yet, try to match original cover
Use physical level chart template to create lines
Right click in entry box to add variables, accents
To add serials with an ID: Title: text , then search by first two letters to try and find it
\ = next line when making a new record in ABLE

Rebind damaged:
...
Re-barcode these, because the original barcode might get lost in the rebinding process
affix the new barcode to the clear plastic sheets JEevan saves, and tape that to a slip that has the call number on it
Erase Title when you type that in, but not the other fields such as author
We're leaving the call number field blank when we have a Dewey number because books are going to be reclassed eventually anyway.
Instructions field: Retain and Reinforce for most issues with sewn structures, like loose hinges and damaged flapping spines.
If some pages are loose, R and R won't cut it. Include "Careful loose pages" in instructions
Also include any other notes from Cataloging in instructions, such as "Pocket
Bookplates: type these out on your typewriter, the preservation one has little ribbon left, and no correction tape.
