The Zuck Collection of Botanical Books is a gift of Lois E. Jackson (C ’63). Ms. Jackson’s donation is named in honor of Florence and Robert K. Zuck, distinguished former professors of botany at Drew University. The collection was developed by Ms. Jackson beginning in the 1960s and represents her love of and dedication to botanical drawings and written works.

The collection contains more than 400 titles on the study of plants, trees, and flowers. This specialized group of books is a valuable resource for researchers in the sciences as well as in history and art studies. Books in the collection span more than 400 years of botanical history, dating from 1582 to 2013.

Included in the Zuck Collection are books on medieval botany, historical and geographical plant information (Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, and the Americas), gardening and plant care, and botanical illustrations. Texts within the collection will allow researchers to study herbalists, plant-based medicine, economic botany, ethnobotany, garden design, and ecology. Researchers are invited to view the collection to explore historical and contemporary botanical art and illustrations, plant exploration and discovery, herbals, florilegia, reference works, field guides, how-to books and technical studies.
