Tolley-Brown Lounge, c.1960s

Drew University Archives, Buildings and Campus Features Collection

History

Constructed: 1964

The Tolley-Brown dorm complex contains two halls, joined by a connecting unit with a large central lounge and several meeting and study rooms.

At the time of its construction, Tolley-Brown hall was not a co-ed dorm. It contained a men's hall, Tolley, and a women's hall, Brown. Before it had an official name, the first students to reside in the newly constructed dorm hall knew the buildings as the "South Wing" and "North Wing," respectively. At one point, the Tolley Hall basement was home to Drew's WMNJ-FM radio station and the Oakleaves Yearbook offices.
