The word that Jesus is frees me from him as well as for him.

It frees me for him in that it frees me to use him as well as everyone and everything else as a means of my salvation, whose possibility is constituted solely and sufficiently by the unconditional love of God.

But it also frees me from him in that it frees me to acknowledge that even he is nothing more than such a means, that his significance with respect to the possibility of human salvation is in no way to constitute it, but only to re-present it, even if—as I as a Christian confess—he re-presents it decisively.
