Bochenski allows as how "performatives" are "a third kind of independent ideal constructs alongside propositions and instructions" (79).
Could it be, then, that, just as authority in matters of life-praxis is correlated with either propositions or instructions—epistemic authority in matters of belief being correlated with propositions, deontic authority in matters of action being correlated with instructions—so existential authority in matters of self-understanding is similarly correlated with performatives?
