According to an adequate a priori christology, x can be truly said to be the Christ (or any of the other things functionally equivalent and interchangeable therewith) if, and only if, x is the explicit primal ontic source authorizing all proper Christian criteria as well as authentic self-understanding. In other terms, x is the Christ if, and only if, x is the decisive re-presentation of the meaning of ultimate reality for us.
