The Notebooks of Schubert Ogden

Note the distinction Bultmann makes between "eine dogmatische Aussage" and "eine existentielle Aussage," saying of the second, "Es ist das Bekenntnis des Glaubenden, dass. . . ." (GV 4: 183).

Elsewhere he makes clear the close connection, even identity, between what he here calls "eine dogmatische Aussage" and "die allgemeine Wahrheiten," specifically those that are general truths only in the sense that they claim to be generally valid, even though they do not arise from the human spirit, or reason, but are given and legitimated through so-called revelation. In other words, they are "die allgemeine Wahrheiten" comprising "eine sog. christliche Weltanschauung oder christliche Lehren, Sätze einer christliche Dogmatik" (GV 3: 167).
