Luther begins his Preface to the Epistle to the Galatians (LW, 35: 384) by saying, "The Galatians had been brought by St. Paul to the true Christian faith, from the law to the gospel." Thus Luther interprets "being brought to the true Christian faith" as one and the same with "being brought from the law to the gospel."

It is formulations such as this, presumably, which account for Luther's being misunderstood as, in effect, an antinomian.
