Marxsen asks, To what extent is Jesus the Son of God? And he answers, Jesus believed God (C-p: 32).

But this, clearly, is an answer that corresponds formally to the traditional answer, Jesus was raised, or God raised Jesus from the dead.

My contention is that the one answer is about as good or as bad as the other, since each involves referring to something isolated from and allegedly prior to the reality of one's own coming to faith, of which reality both answers must be understood to be functionally equivalent and interchangeable interpretations if they are to be judged valid at all.
