The Notebooks of Schubert Ogden

SCANNED PDF

The past is that which is the wholly fixed, already settled content of the future, no longer open to decision.

The present is that which is in the process of becoming the wholly fixed, already settled content of the future, no longer open to decision.

The future is that which is a mixture of the wholly fixed or already settled content of the future, no longer open to decision, on the one hand, and alternative possibilities still really open to decision, on the other.

The eternal is that which has always been part of the wholly fixed or already settled content of the future, and thus has never been and never will be among the alternative possibilities still really open to decision.
