Any properly communicative act makes or implies claims to validity and therewith the promise or pledge to critically validate the claims by reasoned argument if and when they become sufficiently problematic to require such validation. This means that the one commitment consistent with any substantive disagreement is the commitment one makes or implies on either side of it to participate in reasoned argument in order to validate the conflicting validity claims giving rise to it. Thus participation in such reasoned argument is the one activity that is explicitly neutral to, or does not explicitly takes sides in, any such disagreement.
