University Technology is responsible for creating sites at http://sites.drew.edu, be they personal, class, or club sites.
- Approval for club sites must be obtained from Student Activities, who will provide the name and URL (to complete the sites.google.com/a/drew.edu/ address) for the website.
- Verna will handle club site creation.
- Nicole will handle personal and class site creation.
Site defaults
Student Organizations
Sharing and Permissions
- Site visibility will be set to "Public on the web"
- Access should be changed to "Can view"
- Student Activities (stuactiv@drew.edu) will be made owner of all club sites.
Personal and Class Sites
Do we want to suggest defaults, or build these on a case by case basis?
Questions with Answers
- Editors can change a site name but not the URL (https://support.google.com/sites/answer/99451?hl=en)
- Site creation requests and training requests will be submitted via Help/JIRA (GNRL, assigned to FacLab or STEL as appropriate)
- Policy suggestion: We will create sites for Student groups, Classes, Personal Sites for Faculty and Staff. Students can request a site if it has a direct academic purpose. Other requests will be reviewed by University Technology staff, who will determine if a page at sites.drew.edu is appropriate to meet the needs of the customer making the request.
- Student Activities will determine the name and URL of student organization sites.
Questions to be answered
- Will ETC redirect existing groups.drew.edu pages to the new Google Sites URLs?
